What is the normal blood glucose (blood sugar) value?

Normal fasting blood sugar before meals: 70-99 mg/dL

Normal glycated hemoglobin: 4.0-5.6%

Fastening blood sugar before meals:

When to measure: Any meal before which you have not eaten and within four hours of the last meal is considered a fasting blood sugar before a meal (for example, you can measure your fasting blood sugar before breakfast at 8:00 AM or lunch at 12:00 PM).

Significance: A high fasting blood sugar before a meal may indicate excessive carbohydrate intake at the previous meal or inadequate medication effectiveness.

How often should blood sugar levels be checked?

Glycemic control goals should be set based on individual needs. It is best to monitor your glycated hemoglobin every three months, or four times a year.

Foods not recommended:

Desserts: Cakes, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, candy, etc.

Sugar-sweetened beverages: Soda, juice, sports drinks, shaken drinks, etc.

Processed starches: White rice, white bread, white noodles, pastries, pizza, etc.

Fried starches: Fried foods, potato chips, fried dough sticks, etc.

Processed meats: sausages, bacon, luncheon meat.

Fatty meats: the fatty parts of beef, pork, and lamb.

High-salt processed products: pickles, preserved foods, canned foods, etc.

High-glycemic index (GI) fruits: watermelon, mango, grapes, lychees, bananas, longan, etc.
