After three weeks of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture treatment, the patient's tinnitus and brain noise have improved. They went from daily attacks to only every 2.3 days, and the duration of each attack has also shortened.

What are tinnitus and brain noise?

When the brain or ears hear sounds without external sound, this is called tinnitus or brain noise.

The difference between tinnitus and brain noise:

Brain noise: Sounds are perceived as originating in the brain itself, such as the head or top of the head.

Tinnitus: Sounds are perceived as originating in or around one or both ears.

Classification of tinnitus: Tinnitus is categorized by how long it has been occurring. It can be divided into acute and chronic tinnitus.

1. Acute tinnitus: This refers to tinnitus that has recently occurred and occurred within approximately three months. It is easier to identify the underlying cause and address its treatment. 2. Chronic tinnitus: This refers to tinnitus that has persisted for more than three months. Chronic tinnitus is more difficult to treat because it persists over a longer period of time and has a wider range of potential contributing factors.

Causes of Tinnitus and Brain Damage:

1. Hearing Degeneration and Noise Injury:

With aging, auditory nerve degeneration is a common cause. Long-term exposure to excessive noise can also lead to hearing loss and tinnitus.

2. Middle or Inner Ear Problems:

Earwax blockage, otitis media, and Meniere's disease can interfere with auditory conduction and cause tinnitus.

3. Auditory Nerve or Brain Problems:

Diseases such as acoustic neuroma and stroke can cause problems with the auditory nerve pathway and lead to tinnitus.

4. Systemic Diseases:

Systemic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia can also cause tinnitus.

5. Medication Side Effects:

Some antibiotics, painkillers, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), chemotherapy drugs, and antidepressants can cause tinnitus. 6. Stress and Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction: Excessive stress, anxiety, or lack of sleep can lead to autonomic nervous system dysfunction, which can cause tinnitus.
